5 Day Challenge for Aspiring Authors. Day 2 | Start a blog

Missed Day 1? Check it out here

Today’s challenge: Keep a journal or start a blog.

Has writing felt like a chore? Do you find it hard to write when you’re not enjoying the process? Then start with something you love. Write short pieces every day. Here are two great options for you to explore.

  1. Post your content on a blog. Yes, start a blog and write whatever you want or are passionate about. If you’re not ready for the world to see your stuff yet, make it a private blog or just don’t put your name on it.
  2. Keep a journal. Make entries in your journal every day. Write about your day, write about your opinions on issues, write about your favorite topic, whatever you want.

Great things start small. Bite sizes are the way to go. Writing this way eliminates the feeling of being overwhelmed and helps you train those writing muscles and also find your voice. But first, you have to start.

Don’t overthink it. Don’t spend so much time deciding what to write that you never write.

If you’re just starting out write anything, write something. Blogs are free; you can buy a journal. The barrier to entry is low and if you’re willing you can find a way. As long as you’re writing, you’re growing as a writer.
