Perfection is overrated. Just do it!

Have you been sitting on that project for so long, you’re actually losing momentum? I’ve been there, and I understand. But there is only one cure for inertia, and that is action.

I know you want it to be perfect, or you just want to wait until you hit on a great idea to start writing that book or planning that project, but sometimes ideas have to be hunted down. They just don’t creep up on us like warm fuzzy friends.

Short and sweet, here are two tips for doing it anyway.

1. If you feel like you haven’t hit on an excellent idea yet, start with the ‘bad’ ones. Yes, it sounds silly, and you’re not even confident enough to share it. Who cares? Just start. Write something, start a chapter, a blog post, anything. The more you do, the more invigorated you’ll get.

2. Launch. Execute. I published my first book almost two full years after I had written it. Why? I was afraid to push the button. It wasn’t perfect. I had to refine it, tweak it, make it better. Thankfully, my husband saved me from my misery before I could drive myself crazy. I published my ‘imperfect’ book, and I’m so glad I did.

So, what do you feel compelled to do? What have you been holding out on? Why haven’t you finished that book or launched that project that is in your heart? What will you do today to move forward? Share with me. I’d love to hear from you.

May all your dreams come true, with pomp and splendor!
